Every address. Every city. Every village.

Pakistan has millions of homes, shops, and businesses with no formal address system. Deliveries get lost. Emergency services struggle to navigate. People cannot prove where they live. Postcode.pk exists to solve this — one postcode at a time.

We are not a government project. We are not a startup raising money. We are a small independent team that believes the infrastructure of everyday life — like knowing your address — should be free, open, and built for the people who need it.

How it works

A postcode for every 100-metre square in Pakistan

Pakistan covers 881,913 km² divided into 7 provinces and 156 districts. Postcode.pk assigns a unique code to every 100-metre × 100-metre grid cell across the entire country — approximately 2.4 million distinct postcodes in total.

The 4-character zone code encodes the fractional part of GPS coordinates at 0.001° resolution using base-36 encoding. It uniquely identifies a single 100-metre square anywhere in Pakistan. No two addresses in the same 100m cell share a zone code.

The system is mathematically derived — not manually assigned. Your GPS coordinates determine your postcode automatically. There is no central authority deciding who gets which code. The algorithm is consistent, transparent, and reproducible.

Find your postcode

Open the interactive map on our homepage, zoom into your location anywhere in Pakistan, and click on your address. The postcode for that exact 100-metre square is shown instantly — no registration required.

Register your address

Visit the registration page, allow GPS access, drop a pin on your precise location, fill in your address details, and submit. Your CNIC is required for identity verification and is kept strictly confidential. After a quick review by our team, your address goes live in the national directory with a permanent, unique postcode.

Share your postcode

Use your postcode on delivery forms, government applications, and business documents. Share it with couriers, friends, and family. The more people register, the more useful the system becomes for everyone in Pakistan.

Frequently asked questions

No. Postcode.pk is a completely independent, privately operated directory. It is not affiliated with Pakistan Post, any government ministry, or any regulatory authority. It is a free service built and maintained by Wix Services Ltd, a private company based in London, UK.

Your postcode is derived mathematically from your GPS coordinates. The province and district codes come from which geographic area you fall within. The 4-character zone code (e.g. EG9Z) encodes the fractional part of your latitude and longitude at 0.001° precision using base-36 encoding. This identifies your exact 100-metre square. No human decides your postcode — the system calculates it automatically.

Your CNIC is stored securely in our database and used only to verify your identity and detect duplicate registrations. It is never displayed publicly, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never used for any purpose other than verification. Only your last name is shown in the rare case that a duplicate registration is flagged. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Submitting takes about 2 minutes. After submission, our team reviews your location and details — typically within 24 to 48 hours. Once approved, your address is live in the national directory and you receive a confirmation email with your permanent postcode.

Yes. Any property — residential, commercial, industrial — can be registered. Each 100-metre cell can hold up to 50 property slots. Your slot number within that postcode is automatically assigned in sequential order (Property #1, #2, #3, etc.) based on who registered first.

The system checks for duplicates automatically. If someone with the same CNIC or last name has already registered at that location, you will see a warning before submitting. You can still proceed — your submission will be flagged for manual review rather than being rejected outright.

Yes. A REST API is available at postcode.pk/wp-json/pakcode/v1/. Endpoints include postcode lookup, reverse geocoding, address search, province and district data, and registered address queries. Documentation is available in the WordPress admin panel for registered users.

That is our commitment. Basic postcode lookup, map access, and address registration will always be free for individuals. We believe address infrastructure is a public good and should not sit behind a paywall.
